Introduction to Mining Chemicals
1、 Flotation agent is the core chemical for mineral flotation separation, which achieves the separation of target minerals and impurities by changing the surface properties of minerals. It is mainly divided into the following three categories:
Collector: selectively adsorbs onto the surface of the target mineral to enhance its hydrophobicity. For example, benzoyl hydroxamic acid has a significant capture effect on difficult to select minerals such as sphalerite and scheelite.
Foaming agent: produces stable bubbles in the slurry, promoting the upward movement of mineral particles.
Adjuster: Adjust the pH or dispersion of the slurry, optimize the flotation environment (such as pH regulator).
2、 Grinding aid Grinding aids can improve mineral grinding efficiency and reduce energy consumption. Its mechanism of action includes reducing particle surface energy and preventing agglomeration, commonly used in stage 1 of ore pretreatment.
3、 Flocculant Used for solid-liquid separation of slurry, accelerating the sedimentation of suspended particles through flocculation, improving water quality and tailings treatment efficiency.
4、 Leaching agent Used for metal extraction, dissolving target metals in ores through chemical reactions. Common leaching agents include acidic or alkaline solutions (such as industrial sulfuric acid, cyanide), suitable for wet metallurgical processes of metals such as gold and copper.
5、 Other auxiliary chemicals Corrosion inhibitor: protects equipment from slurry corrosion. Flame retardant: used in mining explosion-proof scenarios to enhance operational safety.
